HAVE HOPE UNTIL THE END! Hebrews 6:11
I delight or I am happy to share with you this sermon during this finalist’s week in CEP UR_NYARUGENGE and I hope it will have a positive change in your souls, in your spirit and in the way you behave in waiting God’s promises by having a Hope in them.
In this sermon we are going to define hope and in different way and relate it to the bible and have one correct definition according to the scriptures, we are going also to see different persons who put their hope in God to reach the promises of God and to defeat the devil attacks in trials .
Hebrews 6:11
11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.”
This verse is encouraging us to have hope until the end, but many persons confuse hope and faith reason why we have first to know their differences.
Let as first define faith according to Hebrew 11:1
FAITH: Hebrews 11:1.
Now faith is being sure (confident) of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Faith is the foundation for what we hope, the foundation for our relationship with God and everything that it implies within His purpose
Then according to the previous definition of faith we can define Hope.
Hope is the knowledge of facts and also it is the strength or power to keep God’s promises. If you have facts on something then it creates strength in you,
Hebrews 11 comes to mind. Hope and faith are nearly identical. Hope is the thing which brings about faith. Hope speaks of possibility; it speaks of reality in the making, of promise yet to be fulfilled.
7 Characteristics of Hope
Hope “lights a candle” instead of “cursing the darkness.”
Hope opens doors where despair closes them.
Hope looks for the good in people instead of harping complaining on the worst in them.
Hope discovers what can be done instead of grumbling about what cannot be done.
Hope draws its power from a deep trust in God and the basic goodness of mankind.
Hope regards problems, small or large, as opportunities.
After this we may discus Joseph’s life as a good example of someone who put his hope in God.
- Joseph received the dream. Genesis 37:1-10.
- Joseph being hated and sold by his brother because of the dreams. Genesis 37:11-20
- Joseph at Potiphar’s house refusing to lie with Potiphar’wife. Genesis 39:1-10
- Joseph being in prison because of the lies of that wife. Genesis 39:20-23
- Joseph from prison to be prime minister in of Egypt. Genesis 41:39-40
This is a good example of someone who hoped in God and passed in many trials but endured until Gods promises fulfill. For Joseph it should be an opportunity to be loved by someone great and lie with her but he hoped that God’s promises cannot be fulfilled by committing such kind of sin.
Other example of people with hope in bible
1) The man at the pool of Bethesda hoping someone would put him in
the pool when the angel troubled the water (John 5:5-15)
2) Jairus, hoping Jesus would come and heal his daughter. (Matt 9:18-25)
3) Naaman, hoping that Elisha would come and heal his leprosy. (2Kings 5)
Let know end up by using those verses as our strength of Hope
Rom 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
Rom 8:39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
